I have pulled up the lineoleum, but the back is still stuck to the slab.
Sorry craig, anything that is between your subfloor and your tile will interfere with the bond.
If you were to get one of those two handed razor floor scraper then it should make short work of what is left behind.
Just have plenty of spare blades and change the blade frequently so as to keep a fresh sharp blade working the floor.
The key is to get the slab as close to clean as possible.
There is little need to add a layer of anything over a perfectly good slab.
You should carefully inspect the slab prior to installing anything.
Look for low spots or high ones that will have a major impact on your install once underway.
Halfway done is not the time you want to have to address a slab issue.
Look for any cracks or control joints that are in the floor.
Should you find any of those get back to me and i will explain to you how to deal with those.
Then above all else be sure to use a multipurpose thinset to install the tile as it will give you a far better bond than standard thinset.
It is more expensive but worth the extra cost.
Ok craig, i hope this helps you with your project, feel free to return anytime.
